Course Objectives:
The Core Course intends to allow the learners to specialize in the broad subject area and
acquire knowledge and skills pertaining to that particular area. This paper will cover the
history of English literature from 1400 to 1660. It aims to develop an understanding of the
relevant socio-political and literary context of the given time span. The text will be taught
in terms of thematic concerns as well as literary form, along with the connection of the text
